This is post that I wrote last year for the playable spaces blog to document the work I had been doing with Rachel Mimiec in her role as Associate Artist (May 2011 – May 2013). We are currently working together on her upcoming exhibition PLOUGH, which opens in Gallery 3 on 21 February and we are in the process of firming up the programme that goes with that alongside some of the marketing materials. This is the first in a series of posts about GoMA’s Associate Artist, Rachel Mimiec. Her exhibition of recent studio practice is opening up in the gallery in next year (5.30 pm on 21 Feb 2013 for the opening if you are around) and her name will be familiar if you have followed this blog, as her tenure as the GoMA Associate Artist has been entwined with Playable Spaces and she co-curated ATELIER PUBLIC.
The Associate Artist came out of a desire to create a role that could be developed with Rachel to recognize and value the contribution she was making to the ongoing work at GoMA and the critical discussions the gallery has around supporting artist practices.
